Allowance rates raised
Secretary for Labour & Welfare Chris Sun today said that allowance rates under the Working Family Allowance (WFA) Scheme will be increased starting from the next claim month, helping to alleviate the burden on grassroots working families. The rates for household and child allowances under the WFA Scheme will be increased by 15% across the board with effect from the claim month of April, benefitting all households receiving the allowance. Households submitting their WFA applications starting from May will benefit from the new rates. Furthermore, after the passage of the Appropriation Bill 2024, the Working Family Allowance Office of the Working Family & Student Financial Assistance Agency will disburse a one-off extra allowance to WFA recipients as proposed in the Budget.
