Eligible organisations are invited to apply for funding support for the implementation of mental health projects under the second phase of the Mental Health Initiatives Funding Scheme.   Non-governmental organisations receiving recurrent subvention from the Social Welfare Department, Hong Kong Council of Social Service agency members and tertiary institutions registered under the laws of Hong Kong may submit proposals to the Advisory Committee on Mental Health by August 3 for funding support.   Priority will be accorded to projects that fall into one of the five specified service areas: support for carers, support for children and adolescents with special educational needs, strengthening of family relationship, support for the elderly with mental health needs, and support for bereavement and grief management.   The application assessment will be based on the proposal submitted, taking into account the project’s strength, impact, design and feasibility as well as the applicant org

The Government today announced that six positive COVID-19 cases and three indeterminate cases were found in the compulsory testing exercise for the restricted area concerning Mau Chuen House of Shui Chuen O Estate in Sha Tin.   It made a restriction-testing declaration yesterday to cover the building where around 970 people were tested.   Government staff also visited 483 households there and will follow up on those who did not answer the door. http://dlvr.it/SSypvx

​Director of Chief Executive’s Office Chan Kwok-ki and Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development (designate) Algernon Yau are undergoing quarantine in accordance with the Centre for Health Protection’s guidelines, the Government said today.   They were identified as close contacts after an assessment by the centre, as Mr Chan’s wife and a friend of Mr Yau had tested preliminary positive for COVID-19.    Both men have regularly conducted COVID-19 rapid antigen tests and the results have been negative. Secretary for Food & Health Prof Sophia Chan today chairs the 13th meeting of the Steering Committee on Prevention & Control of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD).   Members review the work on the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases over the past five years, including the implementation and progress of "Towards 2025: Strategy & Action Plan to Prevent & Control NCD in Hong Kong."   Prof Chan noted that in 2020, the major NCDs, namely cancers, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and chronic respiratory diseases accounted for about 55% of all registered deaths.   With the growing and ageing population, the burden imposed by NCDs on Hong Kong will continue to increase, she added.   In May 2018, the Government promulgated the strategy and action plan, which defines nine local targets, with a view to reducing the burden posed by NCDs on the city by 2025.   Over the last four years, the Department of Health, the Hospital Authority and relevant or

Chief Executive Carrie Lam today said primary healthcare development has entered a new chapter under the efforts of the current-term Government.   Mrs Lam made the statement at the District Health Centre - New Journey in Primary Healthcare Ceremony, noting that she advocated in her first Policy Address in 2017 the setting up of District Health Centres (DHCs) that are operated in a brand new mode with a view to enhancing public awareness on preventive healthcare and personal health management through community networks.   To date, DHCs or DHC Expresses have started service in 14 districts. The Centre for Health Protection today said it is investigating 814 additional COVID-19 cases, of which 364 were directly identified through nucleic acid tests and 450 via rapid antigen tests which were verified by authorities.   Among the new cases, 106 are imported while the rest are locally infected.   The centre received 10 reports of positive cases from two schools. Face-to-face lessons for the classes involved are proposed to be suspended for one week.   FLM bar on Jervois Street in Sheung Wan registered four more cases, bringing the total number of infections there to 17.   Meanwhile, the Government made a restriction-testing declaration to cover King Man House of Ho Man Tin Estate in Kowloon City.
