Kowloon Central 3D map launched

The Lands Department today launched the 3D Visualisation Map dataset of Kowloon Central and an online application platform Open3Dhk for the public to use free of charge.   To tie in with the development of a smart city, the department started the production of a citywide 3D Visualisation Map in 2021 for release in phases. The first 3D Visualisation Map covering Kowloon East was launched in December 2022.   The Kowloon Central 3D map released today comprises around 9,500 buildings and about 210 individual models of infrastructures, including flyovers, footbridges and subways. It can be downloaded through the Common Spatial Data Infrastructure portal.   Open3Dhk, an online platform transforming a variety of spatial data into user-friendly applications which can support diverse uses by the public, the academia and professionals was also launched today.   Through the interactive functions on the platform, users can view photorealistic 3D city models of Kowloon East and Kowloon Cent

Alice Mak greets Shanghai delegation

Deputy CS to visit GZ, Macau

Deputy Chief Secretary Cheuk Wing-hing will leave Hong Kong on a two-day visit to Guangzhou and Macau this afternoon.   He will meet with Guangdong Provincial Government and Guangzhou Municipal Government leaders, besides attending the signing ceremony for an agreement on civil service staff exchange and collaboration in the Greater Bay Area.   This afternoon, Mr Cheuk will first of all meet with Guangdong Provincial Government leaders to discuss issues of mutual concern and strengthen exchange and co-operation on various fronts. Slope safety a priority

Secretary for Development Bernadette Linn said today that the Government’s primary focus is to stabilise the slope at Redhill Peninsula in Tai Tam to ensure public safety before proceeding with the necessary enforcement action against any relevant breaches.   Ms Linn told a press conference this afternoon that the relevant departments have inspected the slope where the landslide happened and found it affected three houses sitting on that slope.   She noted that among the three houses, one was in imminent danger and the residents had to be evacuated.   “As a follow-up action, the relevant department responsible for maintaining that government slope will do emergency works, first of all, to stabilise the slope."   On whether the house involved unauthorised building structures or unlawful occupation of government land, the development chief said initial evidence showed that there was some breach of the leases and unlawful occupation.   “But our primary focus at the present

Professional services funding opens

The Professional Services Advancement Support Scheme has opened a new round of applications for funding from non-profit-distributing organisations, running from today until November 30.   Eligible organisations include professional bodies, trade and industrial organisations, and research institutes.   Involving a total allocation of $200 million, the scheme offers subsidies to non-profit-making industry-led projects that increase exchange and co-operation between Hong Kong’s own professional services sector and external counterparts, promote relevant publicity activities, and enhance the sector’s overall standards and competitiveness.   The scheme is open to a wide range of professional service segments, including accounting, legal and dispute resolution, architecture, engineering, healthcare, information and communications technology, and design, as well as technical testing and analysis.
