April warmer, drier than usual

April was warmer than usual with a mean temperature of 23.6 degrees Celsius, 0.6 degrees above the normal temperature, the Hong Kong Observatory said today.   The month was also drier than usual with a total rainfall of 77.5 mm, about half of the normal figure.   The accumulated rainfall in the first four months of the year was 167.6mm, about 44% below the normal figure for the same period.   There were two tropical cyclones over the South China Sea and the western North Pacific during the month.
