More in-person classes to be held

(To watch the full press conference with sign language interpretation, click here.)   The Government said it plans to allow schools to conduct more face-to-face classes on a half-day basis after the Lunar New Year holiday.   Secretary for Education Kevin Yeung made the announcement at a press conference this afternoon.   He noted the Education Bureau announced last month that primary and secondary schools were allowed to arrange for a small number of students to return for classes or examinations amid the suspension of face-to-face classes.   Such arrangements have been running smoothly, and no large COVID-19 outbreak has been detected at schools in the past month.   The Government will therefore examine allowing more face-to-face classes at schools on a half-day basis after the Lunar New Year holiday at around the end of February, Mr Yeung added.   He said: "For the resumption of face-to-face lessons, I have yet to work with the principals to work out the details. We are aiming to have some discussion within this week.   "Hopefully, we can make some announcements by the end of this week so that we will know the detailed arrangement of what classes will resume face-to-face lessons earlier, or if we can do a bit more than usual."
